SuperUser Account2018 EQ Executive and Buddies

Congratulations to our 2018 EQ Executives and Semester 1 EQ Buddies.

Students will be presented with their badges at Assembly tomorrow,  Friday March 9th.

These students have been elected as role models for our school community for possessing the virtues of a Melrose Child (good manners, friendliness, courage, persistence, resilience, acceptance and compassion). Their peers and teachers have recognised them as people of good character who have the strength and courage to do the right thing and be considerate of others.  I look forward to working with them to further improve Melrose Primary School.

Parent and Teacher Interviews will be held on the 13th to the 16th of March. Times across the 4 days have been created to suit as many families as possible. This is an opportunity to develop the learning focused partnership between home and school. This is optional for Foundation students and families as they have recently completed a similar process to support their start to education.

What will be discussed?

1. The child’s relationship with staff and peers.

2. Effort and attitude towards work.

3. How have they have settled in?

4. To the parent – Have you got any questions and what are your aspirations for your child?

5. Check that the student handbook has been returned.

How do I book an appointment?

Parents and care givers can book through the online system, the links and code are below, or by contacting the front office who will book it for you.  The online booking system will be ‘live’ from Monday 5th March 2018.

SuperUser AccountQUEENS BATON RELAY 2018

Event: Melrose Primary School Community Meet and Greet Breakfast to be held in conjunction with the Queen's Baton Relay.

Date: Thursday, February 15, 2018

Event time: 8.30am to 9:30am

Location: Melrose Primary School

The Gold Coast is hosting the Commonwealth Games in April, 2018. Wodonga has been selected to be a host city for the Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR). We are very lucky to have the Baton Relay pass by the front of our school. We would like to invite families to accompany students to school, for an informal meet and greet while enjoying breakfast (that will be provided) and to watch the Baton Relay. In order to host this international event, Wodonga Council has been asked to close all roads along the route.

Silva Drive & Melrose Drive will be closed from

9am until 10am on this day.

To ensure our display and the viewing is not blocked by vehicles, car parks at the front of the school in Silva Drive will not be available until after the relay has passed.

With the road being closed during this time, students and their families will be able to safely line both sides of the street and be assured of a great view. During Term Four last year, the whole school contributed to a Commonwealth Games Display which will decorate our front fence line. Please make sure you arrive at school on time (before 9am) on this day to avoid the road closures in place. If you are just dropping off please use Shultz Court. If you intend to participate in the event, an alternate parking area is Higginson Court, which will take you to the oval area at the side of the school. If you have any queries, please contact the office. I look forward to sharing this special event with you.

SuperUser AccountPrincipal 2018

Hello Melrose Primary School,

My name is Ben Slocombe and I will be the 2018 Melrose Primary School Principal. My wife, Danielle, and two boys, Ethan (9 years) and Lenny (6 years), have been in the North East of Victoria for 6 months and are looking forward to what Wodonga and its surroundings have to offer.

I developed my educational philosophy in Primary and Secondary schools across Australia and internationally. I believe in developing strong educational partnerships with students, staff, parents and school communities, combined with clear student driven teaching practices, resulting in engaging and relevant learning.    I merged relationship development, engaging and relevant learning with student and community wellbeing on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, in the Northern Territory communities of Groote Eylandt and Darwin and multicultural classrooms of Singapore.

I look forward to meeting you all and continuing Melrose Primary School’s journey to success. I will prioritise the health, wellbeing and educational needs of the Melrose Primary School learning community to ensure school is an engaging and safe learning environment for all.

Please feel free to stop and chat whenever you see myself and my family in and around Wodonga.

See you soon, Ben Slocombe
